The wooden church of Saint George in Kutriv near Berestechko recently celebrated its 250th anniversary. The temple on the hill above the Styr River was built in 1761 in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Berestechko.
During the Second World War, the bell tower was damaged.
As an architectural monument, Saint George's Church survived the Soviet times. The interior decoration has also been preserved. After the resumption of services in the 1970s, the iconostasis that was kept in Lutsk was returned to the church.
Recently, there was a threat of washing away the river bank and the collapse of the church, but thanks to the shore strengthening works, the architectural monument was saved from destruction.
