A unique wooden shrine, which is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, has become more accessible to visitors with visual impairments.

A miniature tactile copy of this ancient church and its bell tower was opened and consecrated near the St. George's Church in Drohobych. In addition to relief details, the sculpture contains plates with inscriptions in Braille, the press service of the Drohobych City Council reported.

"From now on, blind visitors can explore the sacred building and feel the uniqueness of its architecture. It has become the first tactile sculpture in Ukraine, which was supplemented with an audio description - so visitors can not only feel the architectural monument by touch, but also hear important facts about it," the report says.

The tactile copy of the church was created by the talented sculptor Vasyl Odrekhivskyi.

"This is an inclusive project that speaks of respect. Respect for equality between all people. Despite the small scale of this sculpture, the project has great meaning and a great spiritual scale. And also a large team of like-minded people who supported and worked on its implementation. Therefore, I sincerely thank everyone who participated in its implementation," the author of the sculpture emphasized.

The mini-sculpture made of bronze reproduces the architectural forms of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. The model has metal information panels with bilingual captions, duplicated in Braille.

Біля Храму Святого Юра у Дрогобичі відкрили та освятили мініатюрну тактильну копію цієї стародавньої церкви та її дзвіниці. Окрім рельєфних деталей, скульптура містить таблички з написами шрифтом Брайля, повідомила пресслужба Дрогобицької міської ради.

"Відтепер оглянути сакральну споруду та відчути унікальність її архітектури можуть незрячі відвідувачі. Вона стала першою в Україні тактильною скульптурою, яку доповнили аудіоописом – відтак відвідувачі можуть не лише відчути пам’ятку архітектури на дотик, але й почути про неї важливі факти", – йдеться у повідомленні.

Створив тактильну копію храму талановитий скульптор Василь Одрехівський.

"Це інклюзивний проект, який говорить про повагу. Повагу до рівності між усіма людьми. Попри невеликий масштаб цієї скульптури, проєкт має великий сенс і великий духовний масштаб. А також – велику команду однодумців, які підтримали та працювали над його реалізацією. Тому я щиро дякую усім, хто долучився до його втілення", – наголосив автор скульптури.

Мініскульптура з бронзи відтворює архітектурні форми пам’ятки Всесвітньої спадщини ЮНЕСКО. Макет має металеві інформаційні таблиці з двомовними підписами, дубльованими шрифтом Брайля.
