The Horodetsky House in Moshny has become a cultural and artistic center

The Horodetsky Cultural and Artistic Center was opened in the historic Doctor's House in the village of Moshny in the Cherkasy region. Built in 1894 according to the design of the Kyiv architect Vladyslav Horodetsky, it is the only wooden house of his authorship that has survived in Ukraine, reports "Suspilne".

"It is also unique in that its facade and windows use elements of Scandinavian, Old Rus carving. Even elements of Ukrainian modernism," emphasizes local historian Mykola Yakymenko.

The building was part of a hospital complex built at the expense of the owner of the Moshniv estate, Kateryna Balashova, at the end of the 19th century. In Soviet times, the Horodetskyi house served as apartments for doctors. And only in recent years has it become the property of the hromada, which decided to create a cultural and artistic hub in it.

Activists of the public organization "Nova Druzhkivka" from Donetsk region took on the project. With grant funds, they partially restored the building, purchased furniture and equipment. During workshops and brainstorming sessions, the villagers jointly developed ideas for the future filling of the space, worked on the identity together with the designer, and participated in the renovations and renovations.

"We decided that this will be a cultural and artistic center that will unite cultural and artistic communities for experiments. Both residents of the hromada will be able to come here, and we hope that people will come here from all over Ukraine, and perhaps even from different corners of the world," says project manager Anna Pavlenko.

Currently, the Horodetsky Cultural and Artistic Center is already operating as a public space for community building. And in the future, they also plan to establish the world's first museum of architect Horodetsky.

"This will be a pearl on the tourist map of Cherkasy region. The wooden house itself is a pearl - a wooden monument. There is also a lot inside: the fireplace, stoves, tiles above them, native doors, stucco molding have been preserved," Mykola Yakymenko shares his vision.

Its initiators spent one million four hundred thousand hryvnias of an international grant on the implementation of the project. Additionally, about 20% was provided by the village council in the form of indirect financing - through ensuring the performance of works, payment of utility services, etc.

Культурно-мистецький центр "Городецький" відкрили в історичному Будинку лікаря, що в селі Мошни на Черкащині. Збудований у 1894 році за проєктом київського архітектора Владислава Городецького, це єдиний дерев'яний будинок його авторства, що зберігся в Україні, повідомляє "Суспільне".

"Він ще унікальний тим, що на його фасаді, вікнах використані елементи скандинавської, давньоруської різьби. Навіть елементи — українського модерну", – наголошує краєзнавець Микола Якименко.

Будівля була частиною лікарняного комплексу, який звели коштом власниці Мошнівського маєтку Катерини Балашової наприкінці XIX століття. У радянські часи будинок Городецького слугував квартирами для лікарів. І лише останніми роками він перейшов у власність громади, яка вирішила створити в ньому культурно-мистецький хаб.

За реалізацію проєкту взялися активісти громадської організації "Нова Дружківка" з Донеччини. За грантові кошти вони частково відреставрували будівлю, закупили меблі та обладнання. Під час воркшопів і мозкових штурмів жителі села спільно напрацьовували ідеї для майбутнього наповнення простору, разом із дизайнеркою працювали над айдентикою, брали участь у толоках та ремонтних роботах.

"Вирішили, що це буде культурно-мистецький центр, який буде об’єднувати культурні, мистецькі спільноти для експериментів. Сюди зможуть приходити як мешканці громади, так і, ми сподіваємося, що сюди будуть приїжджати з усієї України, а, можливо, навіть і з різних куточків світу", – каже менеджерка проєкту Анна Павленко.

Зараз культурно-мистецький центр "Городецький" вже працює як громадський простір спільнототворення. А в майбутньому в ньому планують також заснувати перший у світі музей архітектора Городецького.

"Це буде перлинка на туристичній мапі Черкащини. Дерев'яний будинок сам є перлиною – дерев'яна пам'ятка. Усередині також багато чого є: збереглися камін, грубки, кахлі над ними, двері рідні, ліпнина", – ділиться своїм баченням Микола Якименко.

На реалізацію проєкту його ініціатори витратили мільйон чотириста тисяч гривень міжнародного гранту. Додатково близько 20% надала сільська рада у вигляді непрямого фінансування – через забезпечення виконання робіт, оплату комунальних послуг, тощо.
