Improper water use by the local trout farm could have led to a significant decrease in the flow of artesian water from unique springs.

The hydrological natural monument "Okonski Springs" in the village of Okonsk in Volyn region may disappear. Blogger Natalia Okseniuk reported on the cessation of the usual flow from the artesian water sources, which previously visibly beat from under the surface of the pond with two powerful water jets.

"Okonskiy springs have disappeared. And with them the hydrological natural monument... Manevychi village council, you are also to blame for this - inaction and indifference. This place is worth protecting and preserving, but it's too late, because there is nothing to preserve," the blogger wrote, posting a corresponding video.

The Manevychi village council, in turn, reported that a significant decrease in the flow of artesian water from the springs was recorded in the autumn of 2025, which caused "reasonable concern among community residents about the change in the hydrological regime of the natural monument." As the village council explained, the land plot where the monument is located has been leased from the Forel NVC enterprise since 2011, which did not agree with local authorities on special water use and the construction of wells here.

"Based on the village council's appeals to the State Environmental Inspectorate in the Volyn region, on December 11, 2025, specialists conducted an inspection (survey) of the site of environmental damage, which confirmed the fact of a decrease in the water level in the reservoir," the village council noted.

The local authorities are now awaiting further verification by the State Ecological Inspectorate of Ukraine regarding the use of deep wells by the Forel NVC enterprise and the possible impact on the hydrological regime of the natural monument. They promise to report the results in due course.

Гідрологічна пам'ятка природи "Оконські джерела" в селі Оконськ на Волині може зникнути. Про припинення звичайного витоку з джерел артезіанської води, яка раніше помітно била з-під поверхні ставка двома потужними водяними струменями, повідомила блогерка Наталя Оксенюк.

"Оконські джерела зникли. А разом з ними гідрологічна пам'ятка природи... Маневицька селищна рада, в цьому є і ваша вина – бездіяльність і байдужість. Це місце варте оберігання і збереження, але вже пізно, бо немає що зберігати", – написала блогерка, виклавши відповідне відео.

Маневицька селищна рада своєю чергою повідомила, що суттєве зниження витоку артезіанських вод із джерел зафіксоване в осінній період 2025 року, що викликало "обґрунтоване занепокоєння жителів громади щодо зміни гідрологічного режиму пам’ятки природи". Як пояснили у селищній раді, земельна ділянка, де розташована пам’ятка, з 2011 року перебуває в оренді у підприємства НВЦ "Форель", яке не погоджувало з місцевими органами влади спеціального водокористування та облаштування тут свердловин.

"На підставі звернень селищної ради до Державної екологічної інспекції у Волинській області, 11 грудня 2025 року фахівцями було проведено огляд (обстеження) місця заподіяння шкоди навколишньому середовищу, яким підтверджено факт зниження рівня води у водоймі", – зазначили в селищній раді. 

Зараз місцева влада очікує подальшої перевірки з боку Державної екологічної інспекції України щодо використання глибинних свердловин підприємством НВЦ "Форель" та можливого впливу на гідрологічний режим пам’ятки природи. Про результати обіцяє повідомити додатково.
