The beer capital of Ukraine has received a thematic museum

The grand opening of the Brewing and Hopmaking Museum of Historical Volyn took place in Rivne on the occasion of the City Day. The restored century-old estate of the first owner of the Rivne Brewery has collected over five hundred unique exhibits that tell about the history of beer in Volyn.

The collection, restoration work and preparation of the exhibition lasted for five years, the initiator of the creation of the museum, director of the Rivne Brewery, Marian Goda, told "Suspilne".

"We opened a Brewing and Hopmaking Museum of Historical Volyn. Why historical Volyn? Because until relatively recently, seven breweries operated here. The first, of course, was Rivne, then in Kvasyliv, then in Hlynsk, in Ostroh, Semyduby and Vovkovyi. Unfortunately, all these breweries have disappeared from the beer map of Ukraine, only our brewery remains," says the founder of the museum.

During the tour, visitors learned, in particular, that the first mentions of the Rivne brewery date back to 1847, and its current building was erected in 1903.

For the museum exposition, Marian Goda collected over half a thousand exhibits, including: historical beer bottles (some over 100 years old), over 300 beer mugs, wooden barrels, laboratory equipment, as well as archival documents and materials related to Volyn brewing. He says that the museum will continue to be updated, and the exhibits will be changed.

"If a person comes to the museum once, records for himself what he saw, and comes back a year later and sees the same thing - he will recommend everyone not to go to this museum. Because of this, we will be constantly updated. There are many exhibits. They cannot be compared. Even bottles that are over 100 years old are interesting," said the director of the Rivne Brewery.

He also added that among the exhibits there is a lot of technological equipment that is also over 100 years old and was used before the advent of electricity.

It is worth noting that Rivne is often called the beer capital of Ukraine, because, in addition to the historical brewery, many private breweries and other beer establishments have opened here in recent years.

Урочисте відкриття Музею пивоваріння та хмелярства історичної Волині відбулося у Рівному до Дня міста. У відреставрованому сторічному маєтку першого власника Рівненського пивзаводу зібрали понад п'ятисот унікальних експонатів, що розповідають про історію пива на Волині.

Збір колекції, реставраційні роботи та підготовка експозиції тривали протягом п'яти років, розповів "Суспільному" ініціатор створення музею, директор Рівненського пивзаводу Маріян Года.

"Ми відкрили музей пивоваріння і хмелярства історичної Волині. Чому історичної Волині? Тому що тут у нас відносно до недавнього часу працювало сім пивоварних заводів. Перший зрозуміло, що це Рівненський, потім в Квасилові, далі в Глинську, в Острозі, Семидубах і Вовковиях. На жаль, ці всі заводи зникли з пивної карти України, залишився лише наш завод", – каже засновник музею.

Під час екскурсії відвідувачі зокрема дізнався, що перші згадки про Рівненський пивзавод датуються 1847 роком, а його нинішня будівля була зведена у 1903 році. 

Для музейної експозиції Маріян Года зібрав понад пів тисячі експонатів, серед яких: історичні пляшки з-під пива (деяким понад 100 років), понад 300 пивних кухлів, дерев’яні діжки, лабораторне обладнання, а також архівні документи та матеріали, пов’язані з пивоварінням Волині. Каже, що музей і надалі оновлюватимуть, а експонати змінюватимуть.

"Якщо людина один раз прийде в музей, зафіксує для себе те, що вона бачила, а через рік прийде і побачить те саме – вона порекомендує кожному не ходити в цей музей. Через це ми будемо постійно оновлюватися. Експонатів багато. Їх не можна порівняти. Навіть пляшки, яким більше ніж по 100 років – це цікаво", – розповів директор Рівненського пивзаводу.

Також він додав, що серед експонатів є багато технологічного обладнання, якому також понад 100 років і яким користувалися до появи електроенергії.

Варто зазначити, що Рівне часто називають пивною столицею України, адже, крім історичного пивзаводу, останніми роками тут відкрилося дуже багато приватних броварень інших пивних закладів.
