Stavyshche

The village of Stavyshche on the Hnylyi Tikych River is located 50 kilometers south of Bila Tserkva, next to the Odessa highway M-05 (E-95). Administratively, it is part of the Bila Tserkva district of the Kyiv region.

The settlement arose in the first half of the 16th century as an outpost on the "Black Road", along which the Tatars moved towards Bila Tserkva and further to Poland. Some researchers believe that the ancient city of Lubomyr existed on this site during the times of Kyivan Rus.

The official date of foundation of Stavyshche is considered to be 1525. The name is associated with the large number of ponds (stavs) that still exist here on the Hnylyi Tikych and its tributaries. In 1635, Stavyshche is already mentioned as a town with defensive fortifications ...

The official date of foundation of Stavyshche is considered to be 1525. The name is associated with the large number of ponds (stavs) that still exist here on the Hnylyi Tikych and its tributaries. In 1635, Stavyshche is already mentioned as a town with defensive fortifications and a military garrison, and at that time it was granted Magdeburg rights.

Since 1774, the town has belonged to the Polish magnates of the Branicki family. In the middle of the 19th century, the Branicki family built a manor house with a palace on the site of the Stavyshche Castle, of which only the right wing remains (now a local history museum) and the Stavyshche Park, which is a monument of landscape art of local importance. The hospital building, built in 1911 at the expense of the Branicki family, has also been preserved.

З 1774 року містечко належало роду польських магнатів Браницьких. На місці Ставищенського замку Браницькі в середині XIX століття заклали садибу з палацом, від якої залишилося праве крило (зараз там розміщується краєзнавчий музей) та Ставищенський парк, що є пам'яткою садово-паркового мистецтва місцевого значення. Також збереглася будівля лікарні, збудована в 1911 році коштом Браницьких.
